Afghanistan Ranks Last In Global Children's Rights Index 2026
KABUL, June 25 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan has been ranked last among 194 countries in the 2026 global Children's Rights Index, local media outlet TOLOnews reported on Thursday.
According to the report, Afghanistan was placed 194th with an overall score of 0.214, making it the lowest-ranked country in terms of protecting and promoting children's rights.
The situation of children's rights in Afghanistan is described as highly challenging, citing shortcomings in several key areas affecting children's well-being, the report said.
The annual index evaluates countries based on a range of indicators, including children's access to health care, education, protection, and a safe living environment.
The index aims to assess how effectively countries uphold and protect the rights and welfare of children in accordance with international standards.
