WASHINGTON, July 10 (NNN-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) -- United States (US) President Donald Trump will take part in a closed-door policy meeting on Friday amid escalating tensions with Iran, Sputnik/RIA Novosti reported, citing his schedule released by the White House.

The meeting is set to take place at 1.30 pm local time (17:30 GMT) at the Oval Office.

At 3.00 pm (19:00 GMT), Trump will attend a swearing-in ceremony for the special envoy for the protection of the US landowners' interests.

No official events have been scheduled for the US leader over the weekend.

CNN, citing sources, has reported that US armed forces have paused strikes on Iran amid ongoing negotiations but remain prepared to resume them if necessary. On Thursday night, Iranian media reported that explosions were heard in Bushehr, Konarak, and Choghadak.
