Singapore Scam, Cybercrime Cases Fall 17.9 Pct In H1

SINGAPORE, Aug 26 (Xinhua) -- Singapore's overall scam and cybercrime situation improved further in the first half of 2026, with reported cases falling 17.9 percent to 18,391 from 22,397 in the same period a year earlier, continuing the downward trend seen since 2025, the Singapore Police Force said on Wednesday.

Scams accounted for 91.5 percent of the total cases, with the number of scam cases falling 14.4 percent to 16,821 in the first half from 19,644 a year earlier, according to the Mid-Year Scam and Cybercrime Brief 2026.

Losses from scams also declined 17.9 percent to about 410.6 million Singapore dollars (323.36 million U.S. dollars) from 500.2 million Singapore dollars over the same period.

"While the scam situation has improved, the high number of cases and losses remains a concern, and tackling scams continues to be a national priority," said the police.
