No Indonesian National Affected By Nepal-Tibet Border Flood - Indonesia Foreign Ministry

JAKARTA, Aug 27 (NNN) -- No Indonesian nationals have been reported affected by the flash flood that struck the Nepal-Tibet border region on Wednesday, according to Indonesia’s Foreign Ministry.

The ministry’s Protection of Indonesian Citizens Director Heni Hamidah said there are about 45 Indonesians in Nepal, the majority of whom reside in Kathmandu and work in the hospitality sector.

She said the Indonesian embassies in Dhaka and Beijing continue to monitor the welfare of Indonesians, including those visiting Nepal as tourists, particularly trekkers, through coordination with Indonesian community networks and the Indonesian Honorary Consul in Kathmandu.

“To support monitoring and protection efforts, the Indonesian Embassy in Dhaka urges travel agents sending Indonesian nationals to Nepal to immediately provide information on their whereabouts and condition, especially those currently travelling or trekking,” she said in a statement issued by the ministry on Thursday.

Heni said the Indonesian embassies in Beijing and Dhaka urged all Indonesians to remain vigilant, comply with local authority instructions, avoid affected areas, and keep updated via official sources.
