Muazzin Of Masjidil Haram Sheikh Ibrahim Al Madani Dies

MAKKAH, Sept 21 (NNN) -- Masjidil Haram muazzin Sheikh Ibrahim bin Adel Al Madani, one of the 24 principal muazzins at the Grand Mosque, was reported to have died on Monday.

According to Saudi Arabian news portal Okaz, news of his passing began circulating through posts by several officials of the Two Holy Mosques’ administration, as well as individuals who follow developments related to the call to prayer on social media platforms.

Following the news, social media users also shared audio and video recordings featuring Sheikh Ibrahim’s voice as he delivered the call to prayer and takbir at Masjidil Haram, while hashtags bearing his name also began attracting attention from social media users.

Sheikh Ibrahim, 51, was one of the 24 principal muazzins at Masjidil Haram, six of whom take turns delivering the call to prayer for the five daily obligatory prayers, in addition to the first call to prayer before dawn.

He was particularly known for delivering the dawn call to prayer and takbir, while also performing the duty of tabligh, namely relaying and amplifying the imam’s voice from the mukabariya (call-to-prayer room) of Masjidil Haram so that it can be heard by worshippers.

No detailed or specific cause of death has so far been issued by Saudi authorities or official channels regarding Sheikh Ibrahim’s passing.

A muazzin is a person appointed at a mosque to deliver the azan, the call announcing the start of prayer time.
