Iranian President To Travel To New York For UN General Assembly

TEHRAN, Sept 21 (NNN-IRNA) -- Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian will travel to New York on Tuesday to attend the 81st session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly, Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported, citing the Presidential Office’s Public Relations Department.

Director-general Habibollah Abbasi told IRNA on Monday that Pezeshkian will address the UN General Assembly and meet with several heads of state and senior officials attending the gathering.

The president is also scheduled to meet Iranian expatriates, as well as United States intellectuals and representatives of American think tanks, Abbasi said.

The 81st session of the UN General Assembly opened on Sept 8 under the theme “Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations That Delivers for All.”

The high-level general debate is scheduled to begin on Sept 22, with Pezeshkian expected to deliver his address on Wednesday, Sept 23.

The United States has approved visas for Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to attend the gathering.
