Public Sector Strike Expected To Disrupt Flights In France On Tuesday

MOSCOW, Sept 29 (NNN-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) -- Passengers at seven French airports will face flight cancellations and delays on Tuesday due to a public sector strike, the French Civil Aviation Authority (DGAC) said, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.

"Due to a social movement, delays and cancellations are expected at the airports of Paris Charles de Gaulle, Marseille Provence, Limoges, Tarbes-Lourdes, Pau, Nantes and Strasbourg," the statement read.

Thousands of citizens are expected to take to the streets demanding higher wages and better working conditions amid austerity measures proposed in the 2027 state budget. A total of 170 actions are planned across the country.

In order to ensure aviation safety, the DGAC asked air carriers to cancel a quarter of flights at Marseille Airport and 5 per cent of flights at Paris airports, the BFMTV broadcaster reported. The strike will also lead to disruptions in public transport in the Paris region.
