UK PM Starmer Announces His Resignation Outside Downing Street

KUALA LUMPUR, June 22 (NNN) -- British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced his resignation outside No. 10 Downing Street Monday morning, according to Reuters.

He said he would resign as leader of the governing Labour Party and set out a timetable for his departure from the government. Starmer will remain as prime minister until his successor is chosen

On Sunday, Anadolu Ajansi reported US President Donald Trump said that Starmer will resign from his office, citing failures on immigration and energy policies.

Earlier on Sunday, the BBC reported that Starmer could set out a timetable to step down as early as Monday as the mood inside government shifts.

Several government insiders now believe the British prime minister could announce a timetable for resignation as soon as Monday, according to the report.
