PHNOM PENH, Aug 31 (NNN) -- Malaysian Ambassador to Cambodia Shaharuddin Onn has urged Malaysian companies to remain a vital pillar of the growing Malaysia-Cambodia economic partnership.

He said the Malaysian business community in Cambodia have played a key role in deepening commercial ties and strengthening people-to-people connections, demonstrating their continued commitment to the bilateral relationship.

“My greatest pride is (seeing) the unity of the Malaysian people and the success of the Malaysian companies in Cambodia. This is our strength.

“For me, their achievements and contributions in their respective fields provide a good and positive perception and image to our society,” Shaharuddin told Malaysians after the flag-raising ceremony at the embassy’s premises this morning.

Despite their busy Monday routines and the humid, monsoon-laced morning, Malaysians from all walks of life gathered in Phnom Penh to mark the 2026 National Day celebration, turning the occasion into a warm celebration of national pride and unity.

In keeping with tradition, the Jalur Gemilang was proudly raised in tribute to the historic occasion, followed by a reception that brought the Malaysian community together in a spirit of camaraderie.

“Although many of you have been in this country for a long time, you are still proud of the identity of Malaysians. We are proud of our country's history.

“We are proud of the development of our country, united as Malaysians and live harmoniously,” he said.
