SIA, Scoot Cancel Singapore-Jakarta Flights On Sunday Due To Anak Krakatau Eruption

SINGAPORE, Sept 6 (NNN) -- Singapore Airlines (SIA) cancelled 19 flights between Singapore and Jakarta scheduled for Sunday, following volcanic activity caused by the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau in Indonesia.

In an advisory posted on its Facebook page SIA said all affected flights were scheduled to operate between Changi Airport and Jakarta’s Soekarno–Hatta International Airport.

"As the situation remains fluid, other SIA flights between Singapore and Indonesia may be affected.

"Customers may visit our Flight Status page for the latest information on their flights," it said on Sunday.

Meanwhile, SIA budget airline, Scoot also cancelled 12 flights scheduled for Sunday as a precautionary measure following the eruption.

The airline has reached out to affected customers via the contact details provided to inform them of the changes to their flights.

Anak Krakatau, which has been erupting since Friday, caused volcanic ash to spread, resulting in six major airports in Indonesia, including Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, being temporarily closed on Sunday.
