Malaysian Ambassador Presents Credentials To Oman Sultan
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 5 (NNN) -- Malaysian Ambassador to Oman Ahmad Kamrizamil Mohd Riza presented his credentials to Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said on Sept 10, with discussions focusing on strengthening bilateral cooperation.
In a statement, the Malaysian Embassy in Oman said the ceremony at Al Hosn Palace in Salalah formally accredited Ahmad Kamrizamil as Malaysia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Oman.
“His Majesty the Sultan of Oman expressed confidence in the potential to expand bilateral cooperation into more strategic, knowledge-based, and high-value sectors. He also encouraged increased academic and student exchanges between the two nations,” the statement read.
Ahmad Kamrizamil conveyed greetings and best wishes from His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, which Sultan Haitham reciprocated.
Malaysia and Oman established diplomatic relations on Jan 15, 1982. Ahmad Kamrizamil is Malaysia’s eighth ambassador to Oman since its mission in Muscat was elevated to ambassadorial status in 2000.
In a separate statement, the embassy said it hosted a reception in Muscat on Sept 30 to commemorate Malaysia’s 69th National Day and 63rd Malaysia Day, with Oman’s Economy Minister Dr Khamis bin Saif bin Hamoud Al Jabri as guest of honour.
The reception was attended by senior Omani officials, heads of diplomatic missions, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of the business community, Friends of Malaysia and Malaysians residing in the Sultanate.
Speaking at the reception, Ahmad Kamrizamil said ties rooted in centuries of trade and maritime connections had developed into cooperation spanning trade and investment, energy, education, tourism and people-to-people exchanges.
He also expressed Malaysia’s appreciation for Oman’s support for Malaysian companies operating in the country, including Petronas, Malakoff and Jaya Permai, whose investments totalled close to US$1.4 billion.
