Arab Expat Injured By Debris From Intercepted Houthi Missile In Saudi Capital

ISTANBUL, Oct 14 (NNN-Anadolu) -- An Arab expatriate was injured Wednesday after debris from an intercepted Houthi ballistic missile fell in the Saudi capital Riyadh, causing minor damage to a residential building and a vehicle, Anadolu Ajansi reported.

The Saudi Civil Defence said in a statement that emergency teams responded to falling missile debris.

The nationality of the victim has not been disclosed.

Earlier Wednesday, Saudi-led coalition spokesman Maj. Gen. Turki al-Maliki announced the interception of a Houthi ballistic missile targeting Riyadh. Witnesses reported hearing four explosions in Riyadh following the alerts.

Saudi Arabia has faced a series of missile and drone attacks amid escalating hostilities with Yemen’s Houthi group.

Saudi Arabia has led a military coalition supporting Yemen's internationally recognised government since 2015 against the Houthis, who have controlled Sanaa and several other provinces since 2014. The current escalation started in July after a 2022 truce collapsed.
